Major update for our campaign!

June 04, 2018

Friends and supporters,

We met our challenge and our generous donor has contributed an additional $5,000 to match what we raised over the last week! Many thanks to all who participated. With the success of our campaign so far and all of the funds still coming in, we've decided to increase our goal to $20,000 and extend the campaign a few extra days.

Where we are with the fund-raising:

In addition to the $20,000 expected from this campaign, we've raised $40,000 in cash donations and have $10,000 in reserves for this acquisition. That puts us more than half-way to our goal of $135,000. More plans are afoot, so stay tuned!

Thank you!

Exciting news!

May 29, 2018

Good news!

A generous donor is offering a 2-to-1 match for any donations made to our campaign in its last 10 days. That means if we can raise the last $2,500 needed to reach our $10,000 goal, she'll kick in another $5,000. We're edging closer to our goal of raising the entire $135,000 needed so please help us meet this challenge by making your gift today or sharing the link with others in your network.

An important message from one of our board members

May 15, 2018

Dear friends of the Beethoven Center,

First, we would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign to acquire the 7th Symphony score so far. We are especially grateful to Dr. Richard Sogg, a member of our board, who made a very generous gift to help get our campaign up and running. We are passing along a note from Richard to encourage you to make a gift if you have not already done so, or otherwise to pass along the message to other members of your network who share a passion for Beethoven’s works.

Why I donated

The 7th Symphony is one of my favorite works. What attracts me the most … besides the Allegretto movement … is the opening – the gentle way it starts, portending something amazing to come. Each movement builds on the one before. The Allegretto is special … I’m always disappointed when it ends and wish it could go on forever, into a spiritual realm. The Scherzo shows a bit of Beethoven’s sense of humor. He obviously had a smile on his face when he wrote it. Maybe he was happy because of Antonie Brentano … I believe she was the “Immortal Beloved” and I like to use the nickname “Antonie” for a beloved friend.

You can help bring smiles to many faces by helping the Beethoven Center acquire this special score. It belongs there, where it will be cherished and preserved forever.

Please give what you can!

Dick
