Chemical and Materials Engineering Student Engagement in Research Funding Opportunities
SJSU’s Chemical and Materials Engineering programs are strong because of the exposure our students get to hands-on, open-ended research. Your support can help make these experiences even more beneficial and ensure all students in the program have access to the benefits of learning through the exploration of cutting edge topics in our fields.
Support for Summer Research Stipends
Students who engage in research on campus are more likely to graduate as well as more likely to go on to graduate school and persist in engineering. However, with the rising cost of living in the Bay area, many students can not pass up a paying job to volunteer to do research on campus. In order to ensure graduate school and research-based careers represent the diversity of Silicon Valley, support is needed for summer research stipends to ensure all students can participate in and benefit from the experience of working one on one with a faculty member on their own research project.
