Koret Athletic Training Center
The Athletic Performance Department necessitates daily improvement of both the mental and physical abilities associated with athletic success. It is a lifestyle that is practiced by the staff members, who in turn educate the student athletes in these disciplines on a daily basis.
The theme of daily betterment is where the Koret Athletic Training Center Enhancement Project originated. There are a handful of outstanding items that are currently out of date.
The dumbbells that we’ve been using for the last 10-15 years have been a wonderful piece of equipment for us, and they’ve been utilized in almost every team training session since 2012 when Coach Uribe arrived. Though, there are a few deficiencies in the set of dumbbells we have. First, the old age has contributed to a large amount of the dumbbells weight labels falling off, creating “ghost weighted” dumbbells that aren't safe or effective in training. Secondly, the old dumbbell set does not have the right amount of pairs of dumbbells. The most common used weights of dumbbells for our student athletes range from 20 lbs to 80 lbs. Currently, there are only one pair of 20 lbs & 30 lbs, the most common weights used by our female student athletes.
These deficiencies both diminish the functionality of our dumbbell equipment for training the student-athletes, as well as the appearance of the weight room when we’re selling our Athletic Performance department to the prospective student athletes.
With that said, it is time to move on and further enhance the Koret Athletic Training Center with a set of new dumbbells from 5 lbs to 150 lbs, increasing in 5 lb increments. This will provide us with even more durable dumbbells that should last for another decade, as well as providing our student athletes with the right amount of dumbbell pairs.
